New Hanover County is continuing on course for creating the County’s first Comprehensive Plan, Plan NHC. This Comprehensive Plan will be used as a guide to address our county’s current trends, create a vision as a community for what we would like the county to look like in twenty-five years, and determine a plan for how to achieve this vision. In February, earlier this year, the county held the first public launch meeting for Plan NHC. The public was introduced to the six different theme committees that will be addressed in the Comprehensive Plan. Following the public launch the Livable Built Environment, Harmony with Nature, Responsible Regionalism, Healthy Community, Interwoven Equity, and Resilient Economy theme committees divided up and commenced their meetings in March of this year, and will be completed with their final meetings by the end of July. Each committee has worked hard and has come up with policy recommendations, pertaining to their theme, for Plan NHC.
We are excited to announce that we are bringing all of the themes back under one roof again. This public meeting will be held on August 12th from 4-7, at the Historic Court House located at 24 N 3rd. Street, Wilmington, NC 28401. Come and join us to review the policies set forth by the citizen-led Plan NHC theme committees. Whether you have attended one, none, or all of the meetings we encourage everyone to join in and participate in this process.
