Internship Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in an internship with New Hanover County Planning and Land Use. All applicants must submit a formal internship application, including a resume and cover letter, through the New Hanover County Human Resources Department. The selection process includes a criminal background check and drug screening.

The New Hanover County Planning & Land Use Department is seeking a summer 2018 intern to assist with long range planning projects, including small areas studies of the unincorporated county. Interns will assist with research, data analysis, written reports, presentations, and public outreach. Some involvement with community development & housing research is also anticipated.

Successful candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and have strong writing and research skills. Experience in data analysis, GIS, and social media outreach is strongly desired.

Intern will be expected to work 25-30 hours for 8 weeks but schedule is flexible. Internship may be extended beyond summer upon mutual agreement.
